Bengaluru: Dream India Network celebrates Christmas with children of 55 foster homes

Bengaluru, Dec 17: On December 15, Children switched on their celebration to Christmas from Diwali in the same auditorium of Sacred Heart Girls’ High School here.

Speaking on the occasion, the city mayor lauded Fr Edward for the initiates taken and assured his unconditional and wholehearted support to Dream India Network (DIN) for giving wings to the dreams of children. The newly elected MLA of Shivaji Nagar, Rizwan Arshad, acknowledging and appreciating the ‘wonderful’ work done by Fr Edward and Team stated, “I am here because I am something and will be there with Dream India even if I am nothing.” Former Home Minister of Karnataka, Ramlinga Reddy, speaking about the Birth of Jesus was happy to share about his visit to Bethlehem and wished everybody a blessed Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. The prominent leaders were honoured by Dr Saju, the CEO of DIN.

The auditorium and surroundings were decorated with Christmas tree, stars, lamps, toys and flowers. The guests of honour for the programme and children from the homes were all welcomed with a pencil stuck with a star or heart which symbolized Love and Joy of Christmas.

The programme commenced with a prayer by Sr Regina EF and children from Ashraya Home who enacted the significance and meaning of Christmas.

Earlier, Fr Edward officially welcomed all those who were gathered on the occasion and wished them a Merry Christmas. The guests of honour present for the Christmas event included. Gautam Kumar, mayor, BBMP (City Corporation), Rizwan Arshad newly elected MLA of Shivajinagar Constituency, Lakshmi Naryaana, Corporator, and Ramlinga Reddy MLA & Former Home Minister of Karnataka.

The guests of honour for the Christmas programme included Sr Wilma, provincial of Charles Borromeo, Sr Margaret, superior of Good shepherd Convent, William, Fr Jijo MSFS, Sunshine group, Mathew P V, James, Building Blocks’ and many others. The Swantranta Transgender team was also welcomed and honoured. Haris thanked DIN for providing them accommodation in their office.

The DIN children from different Foster Homes performed their talents through various programmes such as enactment of Christmas story, Folk dance depicting the Birth of Christ, mime, classical dance and drama dance.

The event reached its zenith of vibrancy through the arrival of Santa clause which witnessed all children reverberating in thrill and were on their toes with dancing steps to the tunes of Christmas songs. The Santa along with the school for Sun Shine team greeted all children with Christmas gifts that children loved the most. Sr Sujatha JMJ, director of Foster Homes and Sr Jenni DW, coordinated the entire stage programme with help of Praisy.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks rendered by Fr Nelson MSC, the coordinator of DIN.
