Kasargod: Two-day Tulu national symposium commences

Kasargod, Dec 17: Kerala Tulu academy set in motion the two-day long national Tulu symposium here on Monday. The symposium was set in motion by MP Raj Mohan Unnithan at Lalita Kala Sadan here.

He assured of his sincere efforts to include Tulu language in the eighth chapter and the matter is already raised in the parliament. MLA N A Nellikunnu presided over the programme.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr D Sajith Babu released a tri-monthly magazine ‘Thembere’ and announced the inauguration of Tulu Bhavan under construction in Manjeshwar in January.

Haveri Janapada University former vice-chancellor, Dr Chinnappa presented the keynote address. MLA K Kunhiraman, Manjeshwar block panchayat member, K R Jayanand, municipal council member, Arun Kumar Shetty, national Tulu symposium committee president, V Kumaran Master, author, Rajashree T Rai and others were present. Goliadka Kanyappady Choma Nalike performed Ati Kalenja before the inauguration.

Kerala Tulu academy president, Umesh M Salian welcomed the gathering. Tulu Academy member Radhakrishna K Uliathadka compered the programme.

Tulu Sahitya Academy president, Dayananda Kattalsar will be the chief guest for the concluding programme on December 18 at 2 pm. Former MLA C H Kunhambu will distribute prizes to the competition winners. Veteran scholar Malar Jayarama Rai will deliver the concluding speech. Enmakaje gram panchayat standing committee president, Ayisha A A Perla, district department of information officer Madhusoodanan M, Partisubba Yogish Rao Chigurupade and Taluk library board secretary, P Damodaran will be present.
