Mangaluru: Voter registration special drive from January 6 to 8

Mangaluru, Dec 18: "Election Commission of India has published time table for the special short revision of electoral roll. Therefore, flash registration of voters will take place in all the polling booths in Dakshina Kannada district from January 6 to 8, 2020," stated deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Sindhu B Rupesh.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, she said that eligible voters who will be completed 18 years of age as on January 1, 2020, whose names are not included in the electoral roll can register their names now. They should have completed 18 years of age, and Indian citizens who normally reside in the assembly constituencies concerned would be included in the roll," she explained.

The draft voters list would be published on December 16, and objections will be received form December 16 to January 15. In case of rights and objections, they will be handled before January 27. Database and supplemental printing will be renewed by February 4. The first time voters will be issued identity cards free of cost on the spot," she explained.

The deputy commissioner also said that Karavali Utsav, which was proposed to begin on January 3 has been postponed to January 10.
