Bantwal, Dec 20: The heat of the curfew enforced in Mangaluru following protests opposing Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 has touched Bantwal also.

Several shops in Bantwal, BC Road, Kaikamba, Melcar, Kalladka, Vitla and other important spots of the town remained closed. The number of people and vehicles on the streets was less.

KSRTC and private buses did not get down to the road in order to maintain peace. Some shopkeepers downed their shutters on their own though there was no pressure from anybody to close them.

Sufficient police force is deployed at Bantwal circle. Police officials are saying that they will not give room to create unrest.

Taluk tahsildar, Rashmi S R who is stationed in B C Road is watching the situation. Taluk mini Vidhana Saudha and other government offices were devoid of people.
