Bangalore, Sep 14: A meeting was held at Workers Centre here, under the leadership of Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras, along with moderator, Fr Faustine Lobo, convener, Susainathan and other members of the core committee recently.

The meeting was convened to explain the significance of the forthcoming Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections, especially in view of the recent church attacks. It was also expressed that the Christian community is a peace-loving community, rendering yeomen services to the down-trodden. Concern was expressed about the fact that this service is being misconstrued and being used for anti-propaganda, terming this to be a tool to abet conversions. The meeting decided to encourage more and more Christian leaders to contest the coming BBMP elections.

It is not in the right interest of the society that religion and caste based election strategies are formed. Similarly if other communities also follow suit, it will further polarise society. The decision on political matters should left to the individuals. our ulitmate aim should be to remove the barrier of religion/caste from all offcial records and practice religion at home.
