Mangalore: United Christian Association Conducts Road Repairs with Other Organizations

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 15: The city-based United Christian Association (Regd), in association with other organizations like Hindu Shakti Kulshekhar, Kulshekhar Friends, Veeranarayana Games Team, Adyar Friends, Srikrishna Janmashtami Samiti, Vamanjoor Friends, Jaishankar Mitr Mandali Kettikkal, Katte Friends Kulshekhar and Mangaladevi Friends, undertook the repair of about four kms long stretch of road from Kulshekhar Circle in the city to Nantoor Circle through voluntary service on Sunday September 13.

This road had been badly damaged due to the heavy rains and the drivers of vehicles were struggling to drive through the road. With the efforts put in by local youth leader Alban Menezes, and with the total involvement of others like Manoj Kulshekhar of Hindu Shakti and corporator Bhaskar M, and unity showed by a team of youngsters driven by the will to do something for the society, this stretch was made motorable again.

Dear Joe D''souza, If everyone this like negatively and waits for someone else to do the job this world will be a difficult place to see.Someone rightly said "Be the change u wish to see around you" If all of us unitedly start making a difference its not going to be long before the world becomes a better place. Its nice to hear that u have done social service but our motto is different "WE DO SOCIAL WORK TO GET A SMILE ON PEOPLES FACES,ITS BETTER WE WAKE A THOUSAND COMMUTERS ON THE ROAD SMILE WITH OUR EFFORTS RATHER THAN EXPECT ANYTHING OUT OF IT" p.s ALL FUNDING TO THIS EVENT WAS INTERNAL

There is no point in blaming the corporation or corporator or dc! WE had many options 1)take out a protest march on these roads 2) protest and shout slogans outside dc''s office Im sure these would have generated a lot of publicity! what say Mr.Lewis?? BUT we had different idea in mind! Do the work ourselves than screaming shouting, protesting and wasting time. All Members of the Uca(from the big businessmen to small children) were present in this and have worked hard physically! This is just the beggining! Melroy

Ivan Frank, you said it right. We have Corporation,State Govt. Panchayath, PWD etc. They are probably sitting at their Desk and laughing at these people. There is Gasoline tax and part of it is swindled out. Let those Cable companies,Plumbing Contractors and Electical contractors who damage the road should fix it. Why the Public should do it. Since few years I was doing this Social Work until recently spending my own money,my own vehicle and hiring the workers. Finally I realized, why should I do this? Govt. Employees are responsible for this and We public are not. This kind of Public Service is not doing any good but going to make wealthy Corrupt Govt.Employees and Corrupt Contractors by using the left over money.

Ivan Frank, Mangalore, your criticism is unfair and biased. If you cannot do a good deed to the public, atleast allow others do it.
