Bengaluru, Dec 26: "I have never lobbied for the post of the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), and will never do it. If the leaders give me this post considering my eligibility and services I have rendered to the party so far, I will be happy to discharge duties in that post," said former minister M B Patil.

He was speaking to the press and responding to media reports which claimed that D K Shivakumar, M B Patil and K H Muniyappa have been vying for the post of the KPCC president and lobbying hard at the high command level. He said he does not feel the need to undertake lobbying. 'In the past, I had got an opportunity to become KPCC president twice but I had declined the offer on both the occasions. I can never lobby for any position," he clarified.

At the same time, he demanded to hold judicial inquiry into the death of two persons in firing during Mangaluru disturbances. He said humanity, not caste or community of the people, is of paramount importance and criticized the government for announcing compensation to victims and then going back on the promise.
