Udupi: National Voluntary Blood Day Celebrated at Milagres College

: ‘National Voluntary Blood Day’ celebrations were held at Milagres College, Kallianpur, on Thursday October 1 at its silver jubilee auditorium.


 
It was organized by NSS, NCC, and Youth Red Cross units of the college in association with the Rotary Club and Lions Club.
 
Principal Fr Fred Mascarenhas presided over the programme.
 
Dr Sudha Bhat, head of KMC Hospital blood bank, explained the importance of blood donation. She also outlined the dos and don’ts of donating blood.
 
Rotary president Vijaya Mayadi, NSS programme officers Dr Gerald Pinto and Rajeshwari, and NCC officer Cyril Mathias, were present.
 
More than 46 NSS volunteers and other students donated blood to the KMC blood bank on the occasion. About 200 students had their blood groups identified.
