Mangalore: 'Aim for Peace, Tranquility,' - Poornakamanandaji

Mangalore, Oct 3:  Swami Poornakamanandaji, head of the Ramakrishna Mutt here, has advised people to aim at living life in a peaceful and tranquil manner. He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day moral and spiritual camp being held at Mulky Vijaya College in the taluk, as part of the celebration of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, on Friday October 2.

He lamented the fact that the evolution of modern era and modernity have robbed the very aspect of humanity, from the nature of human beings, pointing out that this transformation has happened in only the human beings and not in others. Swami Poornakamanandaji analyzed that this aspect has cost the human race dear, as the entire world is being battered by the unrelenting phenomenon of drought and natural calamities. He stressed that it is possible for the people to turn around their way of living and become good human beings again, by regulating and making amends in their internal and external natures.

College governing council president, Dr M A R Kuva, presided. College principal, Prof Aravind Joshi, camp coordinator, Prof Vijayakumari, PU college principal, Prof Tammaiah Shetty, Prof Hayavadana Upadhya and Prof Setumadhav were present.

Prof Vrishabharaj of Bantwal SVS College functioned as the resource person for the session relating to 'Pranic Healing System and Spirituality,' while Prof K P Putturaya, educationist from Bangalore, dealt with the subject of 'Disappearing Values'. The college students also presented a programme of lyrics on this occasion.
