Bijapur: State to Urge for Rs 10,000 crore Aid from Centre for Flood Relief Works

Bijapur, Oct 5: State has decided to request the centre to release Rs 10,000 crore from the National Disaster Fund to tackle the flood situation in north Karnataka.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday October 3 after conducting aerial survey of the district, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that a meeting of opposition leaders will be convened on Monday to hold discussion on flood situation. Yeddyurappa also hinted at taking an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to apprise him of flood situation in the state. 

CM Yeddyurappa said that in all 12 districts have been affected by the floods and over a lac houses collapsed. The services of army and air force personnel have also been taken for rescue operations and Rs 300 crore has been given to the DCs to carry out relief works, he said.

CM added that in all 30 persons have lost their life in the district. This apart there has been loss of lives of cattle, severe damage to crop and public property too, he said.

    Its is my city my district, this kind of flood never appeared before, its a worst so many lives houses crop all went in flood. So govt should seriously take immediate actions to affected areas and help them out earliest.Its my humble request of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
