Bangalore: S R Nayak's Statement Draws Rebuke from BJP Leader

Bangalore, Oct 6: "Chairman of the State Human Rights Commission, S R Nayak, has been raising his voice against the government, as if he is a politician. Who gave him this right", questioned state government's special representative at New Delhi, V Dhananjay Kumar. He expressed strong reservations about Nayak's outbursts, at a press conference held at his office in Vidhan Soudha here.

He was angry at the comments passed by Nayak about the training programme organized by the government for the ministers in Suttur, Mysore district. He felt that Nayak has been passing comments that are found to be stronger than those of the political adversaries of the government.

"I know his background well. Those who are engaged in judicial service should know their limitations well. Just to get some publicity, they should not criticize the government like hardcore politicians," Kumar felt.

Dhananjay questioned the connection between the training session of the ministers and the Human Rights Commission. Why did Justice Nayak himself go to the flood-affected areas instead of passing the bucks? Hundreds of people have died. Has he gone out and collected money and other assistance for the suffering people?, he queried.

It may be recalled, that recently, Nayak had stated that the government should have cancelled the training programme of ministers in Suttur and rushed to the rescue of the people in the flood-affected regions. Kumar said that the meteorological department had not predicted rains on such a large scale and even if it had predicted, many time, the predictions have been proven wrong, he pointed out.
