Mangalore, Oct 6: Head Load Workers’ Association in city protested in front of the Wenlock Hospital demanding better services to the patients from poor community on Tuesday October 6.

The protesters headed by Ivan D’Souza, president of the association, demanded immediate action to confirm the canceling of rules which are against the poor patients and hence make the hospital facilities free for all.

D’Souza alleged that the state government is commercializing the hospital and extract money from the poor. The concept of government hospital no longer exists after hospital has been commercialized. Earlier the treatment and the facilities were free for all but now patients have to pay money, which is an anti-poor measure, he observed.

Protestors demanded district medical officer Dr Prabhudeva to cancel all the anti-poor rules and make sure that all the poor patients are treated without money. Dr Prabhudeva assured that he will do necessary arrangements after communicating with the concerned authorities in the state government.

This is really a good job from the association to protest against such activities. Even i had heard of it few months back that money is collected by the Drs for the treatment of poor. also Rs10/day is being collected towards the bed fees per patient admitted. Medicines are out of stock even though there is Stock of those medicines. Xrays, Checkups etc is being charged high.

All the DRs, workers, directors etc have to be punished for these sort of activities. But directly blaming the State Govt for these sort of issues is always wrong because this issue is not from a month or few, this issue is from many years back. proper measure has to be taken against these issues. Guilty has to be punished and the poor haveto get Justice.
