Bangalore: Corporation Bank Launches 150 Grameen Vikas Kendras

Bangalore, Oct 7: Corporation Bank declared open 150 branchless banking units called Grameen Vikas   Kendras spread across five states as part of its financial inclusion programme, recently.

The kendras were declared open by Dr K C Chakrabarty, deputy governor, Reserve Bank of India at Bangalore. J M Garg, chairman and managing director, Corporation Bank presided over the launching ceremony. With the opening of 150 more of such kendras, the total tally of such outlets has gone up to 568.
 
Expressing appreciation on the initiatives taken by Corporation BankChakrabarty informed that the bank has taken a lead in implementing branchless banking and other banks should follow the lead from the pro-active measures taken by the bank under financial inclusion. Karnataka being an IT hub, inauguration of 150 branchless banking centres from Bangalore will have a positive impact across the world, he said.

He called upon the bank to increase the target of 2,000 branchless banking units to 4,000 units within the next two-year period. He informed that branchless banking aimed at the welfare of the underprivileged has a human face and will help the society at large in the long run.
