Udupi, Jan 24: SDPI state Secretary Ashraf Macha demanded the resignation of state Home Minister for taking moral responsibility of the Mangaluru Airport bomber case. Speaking at a press conference held here, Ashraf said, "When the bomb was identified at Mangaluru airport all the leaders gave senseless comments saying that it was an act of revenge for the Mangaluru Goli bar which happened weeks ago. Shobha Karandlaje, Prahlad Joshi and many others commented irresponsibly. Some medias also termed it as a 'Jihadi Crime', but immediately after the arrest of Adithya Rao, Home Minister Bommai said that he was a 'mentally ill' person.

"A fair investigation of the case should be carried out. MP Prahlad Josi said that those who were involved in opposing CAA and NRC had planted the bomb in the airport. Before the investigation began, all the leaders gave baseless comments. Adithya Rao surrendered before Bengaluru DG. He travelled from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and no one caught him during this period. The international airport is a high-alert area. But at Mangaluru international airport a few CCTVs are dysfunctional. The entire case is a drama. There are a few strong persons behind this and a fair enquiry can only bring those faces out."

Macha further went on to say, "The Home Minister of Karnataka should immediately resign from his post for all the false and baseless comments he made about the case. After the arrest of Adithya Rao, the Home Minister says that he is a 'mentally ill' person. It is the responsibility of the doctors to clarify about his mental state of mind. If the bomb was planted by a Muslim, within no second would they establish his connection saying he was associated with ISI or Pakistan. If it is a non-Muslim, they would be termed 'mentally ill'.

"SDPI has also filed a case against Ranjith S Hengavalli for his derogatory post on Facebook saying that SDPI trained Adithya Rao in planting the bomb at the airport. SDPI has registered a complaint to the SP."

Ashraf Koteshwar, district president Iliyas Sastan, secretary Pandit Hussainar Katapady and Abdul Rehman Malpe were present at the press conference.
