Mangaluru, Jan 24: Former CMD of Andhra Bank, Dr B Vasanthan aged 76 years passed away on January 24.

He was a BCom gold medalist from Kerala University and joined Syndicate Bank in 1965. He served till 1998 and joined Andhra Bank in 1998.

Vasanthan retired in 2003 as chairman and managing director of Andhra Bank and served as CEO of National Bank of Oman in Muscat from 2004-05. He was the director of Nitte Gajria Charitable Trust which opened a charitable hospital in Karkala in 2014. He contributed to many other charitable endeavors including a free primary health clinic in his hometown of Bellikoth.
