Bengaluru, Jan 25: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao, said that he and other leaders will wholeheartedly accept any person nominated to the post of the state Congress president by the national leadership of the party.

Speaking to media persons on Friday January 24, Gundu Rao said that new president to KPCC will be appointed by next week and that the high command will decide who will succeed him. "Opinions of leaders have been collected. It is but natural that in such cases there will be some support and some opposition. Finally, we will accept the high command's decision," he stated.

Dinesh dismissed the notion that there is proposal to appoint four working presidents for KPCC, adding that no discussions have been held on this issue. He pointed out that officially no such stand has been announced. He recalled that along with himself, Shivakumar, and S R Patil etc had functioned earlier as working presidents.

About the attack on MLA Haris, he demanded detailed probe into the incident. He however acknowledged that for investigation to continue, forensic science laboratory report has to be received. He asked the police to hasten investigation as people in public life cannot perform in an atmosphere of fear.

Referring to certain utterances of deputy chief minister Dr Ashwath Narayan, he charged the latter of shooting off his mouth irresponsibly after becoming deputy chief minister. He charged him of speaking in a provocative manner, giving rise to disturbances, and then blaming others for the act.

On the issue of planting a bomb at Mangaluru airport, he said that those behind the act should face stern action, irrespective of whether they are linked with any political beliefs or not.

On the issue of cabinet expansion, he said that ministry expansion is a question of state's development, and individual aspirations to become minsters should not gain importance. He said that the state government is not functional now as each minister is handling multiple portfolios, and internal differences in the BJP are proving to be disastrous for the state's development.
