Udupi: DC Jagadeesha inaugurates digital public library

Udupi, Jan 31: "Public has to make good use of digital library service provided by the government. Readers will benefit immensely by this facility," said DC G Jagadeesha.

DC Jagadeesha inaugurated the digital library facility on Thursday, January 30, organized by the department of public libraries and district central library in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, director of department of public libraries, Dr Sathish Kumar S Hosmani said, "It is a proud moment for the state of Karnataka as the digital public library facility is started for the first time in the country in our state. Around 79,000 digital portals are available in this facility. In addition, more than 5,000 dailies of English and Kannada languages, international journals, videos and texts required for students.

"Our digital libraries are model libraries. The books can be read online using the user ID on the digital portal. Two systems and two tabs required for the district, taluk and city libraries will be provided soon."

Cheif librarian of district central llibrary Nalini I G, joint librarian Vanita K, personnel of public library and staff of city and district central libraries, were present on the occasion.
