Hebri, Feb 1: A small girl fell down from a moving vehicle at the seventh bend on Agumbe ghat road near here on the night of January 30. This incident did not come to the notice of the family that was in deep slumber for some time. The girl however, had a providential escape.

Binu from N R Pura in Chikkamagaluru district had undertaken tour of Kerala and Tamil Nadu along with family. When returning by the tempo traveler vehicle, people inside the vehicle except the driver were dozing off. The fact the rear door of the vehicle suddenly opened and the girl fell down was not noticed by anyone.

People in another car which reached the spot after about 15 minutes rescued the girl, identified as Anwi, and handed her over to Agumbe police station. In the meantime, the parents who woke when the vehicle was passing near Koppa, were aghast at the girl going missing. They returned by the route they had taken, searching for the child. When they made queries at Agumbe check post, they got information that the girl was in Agumbe police station. They went to the police station and got reunited with the child.

It is a surprise that the girl, in spite of having slipped out of a vehicle that was moving, remained unhurt. When the people in another car rescued her, the girl was safe but refused to talk, having been overwhelmed by the turn of events. It is said that accidentally Anwi's hand would have touched the lock of the rear door, and the door got opened and she slipped out of the vehicle. Even though gas stove, pillows and other children were also in the rear side of the vehicle, only Anwi fell down but miraculously she did not suffer any injuries, said Binu, father of Anwi, who is immensely grateful to those who saved his daughter.

Station house officer at Agumbe, Parvathamma, expressed happiness at the fact that the child safely got back to parents without facing any harm from wild animals which are often sighted on this stretch of the road at night.

As soon as the child was handed over to Agumbe police station, video of the girl was recorded with police permission to help find out the parents, and the clip was forwarded on WhatsApp with a request to identify her parents and contact Agumbe police station. This video soon became viral in social websites.
