Kasargod: Murder of Maulavi - Hearing concludes, verdict awaited

Kasargod, Feb 1: The principal district sessions court here, which was hearing a case pertaining to the murder of Riyas Moulavi (32), a native of Kodagu, has reserved its orders. Moulavi, who was a Madrassa teacher, had been murdered near Mujahideen Jumma Masjid, Hale Soorlu.

Moualvi was at his residence at Hale Soorlu whe a gang stabbed him to death on the night of March 20, 2 017. In this connection, Ajesh alias Appu and Nitin S from Kelugudde, as well as N Akhilesh alias Akhil from Koodlu Gange, had been arrested.

An investigating team led by crime b ranch superintendent of police Dr A Srinivas, had filed charge sheet after 89 days. The accused have failed to get bail so far and hence continue to be lodged in the central prison at Kannur.
