Bengaluru, Feb 1: Election is being held for the lone vacant seat in the state legislative council. The member chosen will be representing the legislative assembly constituency.

Laxman Savadi, current deputy chief minister (DCM), is sure to get BJP ticket, and he will file nomination on February 5. During the period Yediyurappa had discussions with union home minister Amit Shah, and national BJP president J P Nadda, about the expansion of the ministry on Friday, this issue was also sorted out.

It was decided to ask the three deputy chief ministers to continue in office and put up Savadi as candidate for the council.

Savadi, who joined Yediurappa's cabinet on August 26 was under compulsion to get elected to one of the two houses of the state legislature before February 25. His election most likely will be unanimous.
