Mangalore: Haj Camp Politically Motivated - South Karnataka Salafi Movement

Mangalore, Oct 30 (DHNS) : The Haj camp at Bajpe was politically motivated and did not include members of Salafi and other sects, alleged South Karnataka Salafi Movement Central Committee Secretary Ismail Shafi.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, he said the Salafi sects were not given any priority in the camp. It included majority from the Sunni sect. He came down heavily on the Karnataka Haj Committee’s attempt to ‘sunni isation’ of Haj camp.

Haj Committee has made the rituals impure by supplying food for the pilgrims from a darga. Even priest from one sect was called in to perform ‘dua’ to the bus and flight, he said.
Shafi said the contract of maintainence of State Haj Committee and Haj camps should not be given to one particular sect. Instead it must be given to all the sects. Scholars from all the sects must be included in Haj training.

He said a memorandum has been submitted to CM, Wakf Minister on the partiality treatment meted on the Haj pilgrims, through the DC.
