Mangalore: Thunderstorm Hits Twin-districts

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 31: Rain coupled with thunder, lightning and storm, hit the twin-districts on the night of Friday October 30, with unexpected intensity. The rains, which started at around 11 pm, continued for about 45 minutes.

The rain affected the farmers, most of whom have cut their crops and left them at the fields for drying, and the people, who were celebrating Tulsi puja late night by bursting of fire crackers. The prospects of a good paddy harvest, which has already been affected by intermittent rains, received further jolt on Friday.

Because of strong wind, water entered the houses of many houses and electricity supply went off immediately after the rain started.  As the rain came late night, no reports about any losses have been received so far.
