Udupi: Religious Conversion Attempt – Complaint against Hostel Warden

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 3: In a complaint filed with the Kaup police station near here, two girls have complained that a warden of Bethel Boarding Hostel (New Life Sect) in Udyavara has been exerting pressure on them to convert into Christianity. The complainants have been identified as Megha H L (16), daughter of Lokesh H M from Hettur village in Sakleshpur taluk, and her friend, Shilpata, from the same village.

Both of them are the students of the government PU College in the town. They have been staying in the said hostel since June this year.  In the complaint, they have accused the hostel warden, Saroja Margaret, of pressurizing them to read the Bible every day, and threatening them to kick out of the hostel, in case of their failure to do so.

“On every Sunday morning, the warden asked us to read at least ten sentences of the Bible, warning that we would not get the break fast if we fail to accede to this order. 30 children from the hostel are regularly being taken to Ajjarkad church in jeeps, where they are made to pray, in an attempt to convert them into Christianity,” the girls said.

The policemen have registered a case. Investigations are on.

Dear Daijiworld: I was shocked to learn about the arrest of Sister Margaret, whom I know both her and Pastor Jamkhandi for over 35 years. Since ten years they have been running the girls home so decently and in order, with love and effection to children, without prejudise and sheltering them and feeding and educating these poor children. Instead of appreciating, some miscreants trained these two girls with the help of another lecturer to spoil the good names created by their dedicated work. Police have no right to arrest and enter into the Children home and searching without a search warrant.

I was away in Chattisgarh otherwise this would never would have happened. I only retransfered Joy the SI Kaup, with my request to Dr. Acharya. I am also the President of Udupi District Full Gospel Pastors Fellowship and Pastor Jamkhandi is the vice president and Pastor Gopinathan is our Secretary. New life is not a cult but it is a Nationally Registered and recognised Church.

Pastor Jamkhandi is not part of New life. We all have different denomination but the whole district is totally united with the Full Gospel. I advise Pastor Jamkhandi and Sister Margaret to file a defamation case against the miscreants and the two girls. If you have any doubts about the stability of the Full Gospel teachings please call me and I shall give you the full description of Christianity. Let the Govt. of Karnataka take care of the suffering Christians in Karnataka. Pastor E. W. Frank

No person can forcefully convert others. Every one have thier own freedom to choose the faith. It seems that some people are behind of Christians to find out silly matters and bringing them to public and trying to accuse that there is a conversion. One needs to know both the sides of this incident and respond to it. I dont see any compulsion on this incident at all to convert them into christinity.

Dear all, This forcible conversion theory is a drama that is created by Bajarangadal. ALL U READERS, BEFORE BLINDLY COMMENTING, PLEASE DO INVESTIGATE 2 SIDE and not 1 SIDE. No body can force anybody to get converted from his beliefs. Bajarangadal are a group of insane, ill peoples who needs councelling or a good psychiatrist. They are increasingly becoming a pain to the society. Come let us all raise our voice against these animals as no humans do such acts. As far as the hostel warden is considered, she was not involved in any activity as such. It was a pre-planned drama done by the bajarangadals. The proof is another such incident which took place the same day in CSI boys hostel udupi and the boys confesssed this to the police that Bajarangadal activists forced them to do so. Dear ALL WAKE UP ITS NOT FORCED CONVERSION, RATHER ITS FORCED ACCUSATION.

This case should be thoroughly investigated and if true strict action should be taken against the warden and the hostel management. Such acts by a few misled people are a blot to hundreds of missionary schools which serve the poor irrespective of religion and caste. This type of conversion is not true christianity and nor does thie NEW life sect represent christianity. IT is a devient and fundamentalist form of religious practice which has nothing to do with christianity.

If the complaint is genuine, it will bring shame to all Christians, irrespective of the sect they follow. Christ never forced anyone to follow him. We, as his followers should also do the same.
