Mangalore, Nov 7:
The students of Mount Carmel Central School at Maryhill performed dances and a play on tourism as part of two projects undertaken by the school under the International School Awards (ISA) of the British Council on Saturday November 7.

A total of ten elaborate projects were taken up by the school under the ISA and these two were performed by the students of class VI and VII in the second phase of the project.

Dr Savitha Dandekeri, dentist and professor, was the chief guest at the programme.

The students of class VII had done collaborative work with their partner school abroad and also downloaded information about the dances and music. They performed dances from America, UK, France, Kenya, Japan, and India, for the benefit of parents and students of the school.

The dances performed were jive, ballet, a tribute to Michael Jackson, Kabuki, Bhartanatyam, and folk dance.

The students of Class VI staged a drama on the importance of tourism. The visit of students to foreign countries like Brazil and Egypt made them realize the importance of tourism and also helped them learn about the culture, food habits, and lifestyle of the people in that country.

Kindergarten students and parents participated in a mask-making competition in connection to the ISA school project on animals and flowers.

Class VIII students organized the prayer service at the beginning and principal Sr M Carmel Rita welcomed all.
