Moodbidri: MITE, KMC Join Hands to Organize Blood Donation Camp

Moodbidri, Nov 11:
“Blood donation can save precious lives and any healthy individual between 18 to 60 years of age can donate blood once in three months.  Voluntary donation of blood should be encouraged to avoid professional donors”, said Dr Fatima of KMC, Mangalore.
 
She was speaking at the inaugural of the blood donation camp held here on Tuesday November 10.  The camp was held in association with ‘Mechmites’, the mechanical engineering department of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) and KMC, Mangalore.



 
Rajalaxmi Educational Trust promoter and MITE chairman Rajesh Chowta inaugurated the blood donation camp.  Speaking on the occasion, Chowta said that the Trust has been engaged in societal concerns besides imparting studies and organizing blood donation camps is at the top of its agenda.

“The information about donors of rare AB+ and AB- blood groups has been pooled for future needs of needy patients”, he said.
 
Chowta also acknowledged the contribution to flood relief by the students and teachers of MITE.
 
The head of department of mechanical engineering Professor H K V Rao, student union leader Dhiraj Shetty, and teachers–student’s welfare officer A Srinath Pai were present on the dais.
 
Yedukrishna welcomed the gathering and Tapas Marol proposed the vote of thanks.  Nazneen Mohammed compered the programme. 
 
Over 200 students donated blood on the occasion.
