Udupi: Shankarpura Parish Team Bags Robin, Henry and Joyson Memorial Cricket Trophy

: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Our Lady of Health parish, Shirva, had organized Robin, Henry and Joyson Memorial Cricket Tournament at St Mary’s grounds, here recently. It was the first such cricket tournament to have been held at the Shirva parish.



Deanery vicar and Shirva parish priest, Fr Richard Coelho, inaugurated the cricket tournament. 
 
Shirva parish council vice president, Norbert Machado, ICYM Shirva unit advisor, Arwin D’Souza, the late Henry Aranha’s father Thomas Aranha, parish ICYM president, Grynal D’Mello, secretary, Sumith Saldanha and others were present at the dais. 
 
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Simon D’Souza. 
 
Shirva assistant parish priest, Fr Fredrick Monteiro, presented the prizes to the winning teams. 
 
St John the Evangelist parish cricket team of Pangala - Shankarapura won this tournament ,while Kolalgiri team became the runner up. 
 
Denzil of Shankarpura team was declared the man of the match as well as the man of the tournament.
 
Altogether, 16 cricket teams under Mangalore diocese participated in the tournament. 
 
Grynal D’Mello welcomed the gathering. Sumith Saldanha proposed the vote of thanks.
