Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Nov 17: District and sessions judge, H R Deshpande, opined that the judicial system in India is the most complex and systematic in the entire world. He was speaking after inaugurating the legal information camp held under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority, Kudroli Sri Bhagawati Yuvajana Seva Samiti and its  women’s wing, as well as Mangalore Bar Association, at Town Hall here on Sunday November 15.

He stressed on the need for the people to have legal knowledge, as this helps in speedy disposal of suits.

First additional district sessions judge, Anchate Sanjeev Kumar, who presided, noted that laws are meant for the people and hence, people should have knowledge about it. Giving example about the multifarious problems those having no legal knowledge face, he pointed out that those willing to buy sites in urban areas need to know exactly what rules and regulations besides legal provisions they need to comply with.

“Knowledge of law also plays an important role in regulating corruption. A person who knows law can freely speak to a government official. Most people, who took part in the freedom struggle, were lawyers. Knowledge of law is one of the things that gives rise to patriotism,” he added.

Bar Association’s local unit president, S P Changappa, said that the district Legal Services Authority has been helping for the speedy disposal of cases through the Janata Adalats. One the main objectives of the Authority is to provide legal assistance to poor people, he informed.

Chief civil judge, Anand N Pattana, entrepreneur, Rohidas Bangera, Kudroli Sri Bhagawati Temple Committee president, Ganesh Kuntapady, administrative officer of the temple, V Anand, and several others were present.

Judge, Anchate Sanjeev Kumar, lawyers Premanath and Uday, acted as resource persons for the camp and threw light on various provisions of law that common people are expected to be aware of.
