Udupi, Nov 19: “Countrymen have forgotten to care for cows in this predominantly agriculture-based country.  Criminal cases are being registered against those who hunt wild animals such as peacocks, pigs, and tigers.  Meanwhile, innocent cows that toil for mankind are slaughtered once they age, on every street in the country.  The nationalist parties should unite to confront the unabated slaughter of cattle”, said Vishwa Go Grama Yatre Kaup convener Kutyar Prasad Shetty.

 
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the ‘Vishwa Go Grama Yatre’ at Kaup, near here, on Wednesday November 18.
 
Shetty also explained the objectives of Yatre on the occasion.  Further, he said that youths from rural villages are increasingly migrating to towns and cities.  “The Vishwa Go Grama Yatre committee is engaged in sustaining Indian culture by uniting the youths”, he added.
 
“It’s essential that appropriate laws to conserve cattle be enacted to confront the issue.  An authority should be formed by both union and state governments in order to create awareness on cow slaughter”, said Shetty.
 
Kaup Sri Halemariamma Temple managing trustee Sridhar Shenoy presided over the programme.
 
Yellur Sri Vishwanath Temple managing trustee and Vishwa Mangala Go Grama Yatre committee honorary president Y Prafulla Shetty and Yatra convener Shantharam Prabhu were the chief guests.
 
The Yatre was accorded a grand welcome at Ucchila, near Kaup, ahead of the concluding ceremony.
 
Vishwa Go Grama Yatre welcome committee convener and Hosamarigudi Temple managing trustee Nadikere Ratnakar Shetty welcomed the gathering.  Kaup Yatra organizing secretary Satish Kutyar compered the programme.
