Udupi, Nov 25: Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji of Shirur Mutt, who is set to take over the ‘Paryaya’ from the present incumbent, Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt on January 18, 2010, said that the erection of the customary ‘Kattige Ratha (chariot-shaped stack of firewood)’ for the Paryaya was completed within just 24 days this time.
He was speaking after offering the ‘Arati’ for the completed ‘Kattige Ratha’ on Tuesday November 24. He gave credit for the early completion of the work, to the groups led by Maistry Ramu Sherigar, Chetan Pitrody and Ravi Bhat Bannanje, and honoured the three.
Latavya Acharya of the Mutt, Vaijanath Acharya, Nityanand Volakad, Krishnamurty Acharya and others were present on the occasion.
