Mangalore, Nov 25: “Students have to build their career to compete in a global village where the scope has been widened, to excel in a competitive way”, said Prof Sandeep Sancheti, director, National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NITK), at Mahesh Pre-university College, on Tuesday November 24.
 
Speaking at the valedictory function of ‘Shodha-2009’, he said that students through extra curricular activities should try do better in their career.

“More hard work means more profit and students who suffer more pain realize the value of life”, he added.
 
“Programmes like Shodha help the students remove unwanted thoughts from their minds and make the students valuable and competent citizens”, he said, adding that competitions will teach them team work, competitive spirit, and help sharpen their skills.
 
In this state-level talent hunt, 140 high schools participated from all over the state. The competitions included a seminar on global warming, a debate on the one nation-one syllabus issue, as well as a social science and science quiz.
 
Prof Sancheti distributed awards to winners in competitions held during the two-day programme. Students interacted with Prof Sancheti and he clarified the doubts of students about the latest issues in the field of education as well as in competitive exams.
 
‘Shodha-2009’ was inaugurated by Gopal B Hosur, inspector general of police (western range), on Monday November 23.
 
Principal of Mahesh Pre-university College Dr B Nithyananda Shetty,  Prabhakar Shetty, secretary, Mahesh Education Trust, were also present and distributed the awards.

Anil Mascarenhas, lecturer in physics, welcomed all. Students of the college Vivel and Shrinidhi compered and proposed vote of thanks, respectively.
