Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Nov 27: “After the state government took steps to provide added facilities and benefits to Kannada medium schools, there has been a noted increase in the rate of attendance,” said state primary and secondary education minister, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, speaking to reporters here. However, he admitted that there have been a few pockets in the state where the government schools have been facing shortage of students because of the declining birth rate and the people’s leaning towards English language.

Answering a question on delayed disbursement of pay to the teachers of aided schools, he said that this problem has been particularly found in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and not anywhere else. He blamed the lack of coordination between the officials for the delay. He asserted that the students from the state, who are aged below 16 years, would be allowed to take the SSLC examination only during this academic year.

Kundapur municipal president, K Mohandas Shenoy, Krishnaprasad Adyantaya, municipal councillor, Rajesh Kaveri, Diwakar Kadgimane, BJP block president, Kishore Kumar, local Urban Development Authority chairman, Mani Gopal, block education officer, Gopal Shetty and several others were present.
