Kasargod, Dec 4: Northern range inspector general, Taumin J Tachchangeri, has said that the passports of some of the accused, who have fled from the country after getting involved in the recent incidents of violence, will be cancelled.

The IG gave this information during his visit to the city to participate in a meeting of the police officers, held in the office of the district collector on Thursday December 3. “The officials have informed that they have identified some of the culprits involved with these unsavoury incidents, based on the video clippings and photographs. We have been taking every care to ensure that innocents are not harassed. To ensure this, the investigation is being conducted in a detailed manner, and this is the reason for the delay in the arrest of the culprits. A total of 29 persons have been arrested so far in connection the violent incidents. 60 persons have been kept in custody as a precautionary measure. Out of the arrested persons, 15 have secured bail,” he explained.

The policemen have approached the district court with a request to cancel the bail granted to five accused.  The local court of the chief judicial magistrate had granted bail to 15 persons, of which, the policemen have got copies of five bail orders so far. The policemen have filed a petition in the district court for the cancellation of these bails.
