Kinnigoli, Dec 5: Fr Alfred Pinto, parish priest of Immaculate Conception and deanery vicar, inaugurated the annual sports meet at Pompeii Pre-university College, on Friday December 4.
 
Fr Paul Pinto, correspondent of the College and parish priest of Our Lady of Remedies, Kirem, hoisted the sports flag.

 
K G Mallya, retired deputy general manager of Syndicate Bank, lit the sports lamp.
 
Fr Alfred Pinto, while congratulating the management for organizing the sports meet, said that such events will encourage students to take part in sports.

Mallya, an alumnus of the college, recalled his student days and advised the students to always aspire for excellence in life.
 
Sudhir Hegde, physical education director, was also present on the occasion.
 
Fr Jerome D’Souza, principal of the College, welcomed the gathering.  Sitaram Bhat, lecturer, compered the programme.
