Udupi: Western Institute of Technology Organizes Workshop on Fire Safety

Udupi, Dec 5: A three-day workshop was organized by Western Institute of Technology (WIT)recently,  in association with the department of fire services, Udupi .  Safety students of Mangalore and Udupi branches of the Institute were given practical training on fire drill, fire demo and emergency preparedness. Fire safety advisor of Udupi district, Gururaj, along with the chief practical trainer of WIT, Norbert Rodrigues, was engaged in providing rigorous practical sessions to the students of WIT.






























The workshop had a grand finale on the last day, with the students exhibiting their multifarious skills in practicals, which included various modes, fire extinguishing techniques, scaffolding etc. The march past taken out by the students of WIT on this occasion, was attractive, disciplined and well-synchronized.

In the final day’s programme, Rev Herald Pereira, director, Y C S, Udupi church, was present along with the fire safety advisor of Udupi district, Gururaj. The concluding programme was presided by the block education officer of Udupi district north block, Manjunath. The president of WIT, Walter Stephan Mendes, also addressed the students on the occasion.

Florence Mendes compered the programme and thanked the guests. A wonderful display of fire extinguishing techniques was held on the occasion, by the fire services department of Udupi. The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
