Mysuru, Apr 4: BJP MLA from Mysuru, S A Ramdas, said that if lamps are lit, the viruses approach the lamps and get destroyed by the heat of the lamps.

He gave his own analysis on the positive effects of lighting the lamp. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given call for lighting of lamps. His call is backed by scientific reasoning. Because of the underlying reason, he has called upon people to light the lamps," he reasoned.

Ramdas was referring to the call given by the Prime Minister during his television appearance on Friday at 9 am during which he requested people to put off lights at their homes at 9 pm on Sunday and light lamps in their balconies for nine minutes.

Ramdas said that when lamps glow in pitch dark conditions, viruses approach the lamps. They get killed due to the heat of the flames of the lamps. Modi has thought of this idea in order to ensure that viruses should never occupy people's houses," he explained, and called upon people to join hands with war against coronavirus by lighting the lamps at their homes on Sunday night.

Ramdas distributed candles, masks, and lamps at M G Market in the city on Saturday April 4. A large number of people rushed to collect masks on this occasion, but the police promptly dispersed the crowd.
