Kundapur: Number of Swine Flu Cases in District Rises to Six

Kundapur, Dec 11: The health department officials informed on Thursday December 10, that the presence of H1N1 virus has been confirmed in another student of the school in Kirimanjeshwar near Byndoor. In addition, a man who arrived in Kota from Bangalore too has been found to have been infected with this disease. With this, the number of swine flu cases has gone up to six. Test reports of a few more samples, including a man from Shankarnarayana in the taluk, referred to Manipal Hospital, are awaited.

In the past, two students of Kodery School, a student from Nagur Urdu school and another from Kambadakone school, all located in the taluk, were found to have been infected with the said virus. One of the samples the health officers had collected during their visit to the school recently, has been tested positive for the presence of H1N1 virus. As on date, Kundapur taluk accounts for five cases, while the other case is from Udupi district.

The health department officials said they are on full alert to meet the situation arising out of the swine flu scare.
