Rahul Gandhi asks govt to protect domestic industries from foreign takeover

New Delhi, Apr 12 (IANS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has cautioned the government from "foreign interests" that due to economic slowdown foreign companies may try to take over Indian companies as they may be "attractive targets" and asked the government to protect the Indian companies.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted "The massive economic slowdown has weakened many Indian corporates making them attractive targets for takeovers. The Govt must not allow foreign interests to take control of any Indian corporate at this time of national crisis."

Amid lockdown all the industries have faced closure due to losses the Congress had earlier demanded financial package for the industries stating that no financial stimulus package has been announced to support industries during the lockdown.

The Congress said as per the Assocham estimate the industry needed Rs 15-23 trillion support. The FICCI has put the figure at Rs 9-10 trillion.

The government has given relief to certain industries to overcome the crisis. Ahead of two days of the lockdown to be ended, the government has permitted over 15 industries to start their work with minimum manpower and distancing norms on a single shift basis.

The problem with Pappu is that he neither understand Politics nor economics. This guy keeps giving his unsolicited advises through social media platforms to prove his understanding of India. I checked his Twitter account to find atleast one advise to his poor 14 million followers ( I wonder how many of them are real) about how to stay sate from COVID-19, but there was none. Calling him a leader is also demeaning for true leaders. No wonder he had to flee his 6 decade family strong hold to somewhere in south kerala .

Do you think the PM speaks from his own mind ? The entire world knows about his 'Monitor reading' speeches that are drafted by the IAS officers assisting him. That is the reason, PM Modi never gave a live press conference or an interview. He always aired recorded speeches or read from the monitors.

PM does it with taxpayers' money, RG may pay from his pocket to his PA for the services.

A very thought-provoking suggestion from Mr Gandhi.

As always been, his ideas and suggestions are for the long-term benefits of India.

In the recent weeks many businessmen have gone broke - experiencing total loss of their investments and hardwork.

These businessmen would be keen to sell their businesses to anyone willing to buy. The Chinese entrepreneurs are reportedly looking out for bargains...

...so, if people like Mr Gandhi are not heeded, many of Indian businesses will be owned by the Chinese!

It was your Dr Sambit Parta who kept yapping 5 trillion economy without knowing how many zeros in a trillion. As for taking over India companies by foreign ones, while the take over is governed and regulated, it isn't impossible, all one has to do is to comply with the regulations. It's you and not RG who needs some gyan on this.

Just name one Indian company which has been taken over by a foreign company in India. Your prejudice against BJP is evident from your writing. Dont ever expect your leader and his mother who are free on bail in a cheating case will ever come back to power
