Udupi: Union Government Promises to Step up Vigilance, Security in Coast

Udupi, Dec 17: Minister of state in the union home ministry, Mullapalli Ramachandran, has clarified that the centre is aware of the efforts being made by some Pakistan-based Jehadi organizations to have a foothold in the country, particularly the coastal belt, and target educational institutions, industrial units and tourism centres located there. He added that the centre also is aware of the fact that these organizations have been planning to circulate fake currency notes through the coastal regions. In order to curb such activities, security norms have been revised, Indian navy and Coast Guard have been keeping constant vigil in the coast, and steps are being taken to upgrade 73 police stations located in the coast, he explained.

The minister gave this information in his written reply to MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, who had expressed concern about the efforts being made by Pakistan-based fugitives to get a foothold in Karnataka coast and circulate fake currency notes. He had asked the centre as to what steps are being taken by it to stop these trouble mongers in their tracks.
