Mysuru, Apr 21: Deputy commissioner of the district Abhiram G Shankar said that tests of most of those connected with primary and secondary contacts with employees of Jubilant Generics factory at Nanjangud have almost been completed. Jubilant has accounted for a steep rise in the number of coronavirus-infections in the district and state.
"Coronavirus infection has been rising with each day. Over 473 relating to Jubilant were in primary contact and 1,625 in secondary contacts and quarantined. They have been kept in hotels and community centres," he informed the media persons.
Shankar said out of 2,098 subjected to tests, 1,960 were connected to Jubilant. Out of them, the infection has been confirmed in the case of 68 persons. The test is being conducted for 138 more who were in secondary contact today. As some among the secondary contacts too have got infected, he said.
About those who attended Tablighi Jamaat at Delhi, he said that their quarantine period is complete and test reports are negative.
The Jubilant factory has now informed that a few foreigners from Germany, Japan, Austria and USA had visited the factory in January or February. Deputy commissioner Abhiram G Shankar said that the central government will officially give information to the foreigners as they cannot be summoned here.
