New Delhi, Apr 23 (IANS): The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a plea filed by a resident of the Commonwealth Games Village here alleging flouting of lockdown rules by other residents.

The matter was mentioned before the Registrar of the court on Thursday which has kept the matter for hearing on April 27.

The application by the resident through advocate Joby P. Varghese alleged that various residents of the CWG Village were repeatedly flouting lockdown rules by going out for walks in the nearby parks and also not adhering to social distancing apart from not using masks.

Earlier, the high court had appointed a retired district judge as the nodal officer who was permitted to act to the limited extent of making payment of essential service charges.

The application filed by Varghese has sought the court's direction to the nodal officer to close CWG's gate connecting it to the nearby park.

It has also asked the court to direct the nodal officer to ensure strict compliance of the lockdown rules by all the residents in order to prevent the outbreak of deadly COVID-19.
