BMC chief Praveen Pardeshi replaced by I.S. Chahal


Mumbai, May 8 (IANS): In a major bureaucratic shake-up, the Maharashtra government on Friday replaced BrihanMumbai Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi with another senior officer I.S. Chahal, a top official said here.

Chahal, an IAS officer of 1989 batch and currently Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, will take the place of Pardeshi, an IAS officer of 1985 batch, who will now be the new Additional Chief Secretary in the Urban Development Department.

Besides, Ashwini Bhide and Sanjeev Jaiswal have been posted as the new BMC Additional Municipal Commissioners.

They will take over from A. L. Jarhad who is posted as Secretary (R&R) in Revenue and Forest Department and Jayshree Bhoj who will be the Managing Director of MSSIDC.

The key transfers took place in the civic body governing Mumbai which has become the country's biggest Covid-19 hotspot with the highest number of cases and maximum deaths till date.
