Mumbai, May 13: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday instructed the district authorities to submit an exit strategy plan of their respective areas from the national lockdown by May 15. He also asked for suggestions on regulations that could be imposed in these areas as part of the containment strategy.

Thackeray said on Tuesday through a video conference with Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors that a careful plan is to be submitted by each district authority on the lockdown scenario after May 17, with suggestions and expectations.

The CM further added that all district borders shall not be opened while relaxing the lockdown in the upcoming days, in order to make sure the virus does not spread outside the containment zones. He instructed the district collectors to ensure that restrictions in the containment zones are followed strictly. Once the districts submit their exit plans, the state shall prepare its plan and submit it to the Centre, an official said.

Thackeray also asked the district authorities to prepare to deal with the monsoon related diseases as well. As monsoon approaches, the health machinery should be ready to deal with patients affected by COVID-19 as well as monsoon related diseases. Private doctors should restart their regular services, he added.

Following the measures taken by the Goa government, the CM told district authorities to check whether it can be possible to carry out door to door health checks for COVID-19 and other ailments. Providing these people with treatment on time will help make them healthy, he added.
