Bangalore: Eclipse – Local Administrations Empowered to Decide on Holiday

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jan 14: The state government has not declared holiday for government offices, schools and colleges on Friday January 15, the day of solar eclipse. It has at the same time, said that the local administrations are empowered to decide on declaring holidays for local schools. Government offices and colleges however, will function normally, said primary and secondary education minister, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.

Almost all the schools in the state will remain closed on Friday, to avoid the possibility of the children hurting their eyes by trying to view the solar eclipse with bare eyes. Most of the private schools in Bangalore and elsewhere in the state have already declared holiday for Friday. Government schools also are expected to follow suit.
