Beltangady, Jan 14: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, has thanked the people of Karnataka and the state government for choosing him for the coveted ‘Karnataka Ratna’ award.
Through a release, Dr Heggade said that he has been continuing with the philanthropic activities, service and social service activities with the blessings of Lord Manjunatha Swamy, along with discharging the traditional duties cast upon him, sincerely. He has noted that hundreds of employees serving both at Dharmasthala temple and other establishments, and various organizations associated with it, have also worked with him in serving the society through various means.
“I feel that my responsibilities have increased with the honour now given to me. A lot of challenges continue to exist in the fields of both rural development and alleviation of unemployment problem. There is a need to strike a balance between Indian culture and values with modernity, to face them. I thank the people of Karnataka for the love they have showered on me and also the state government,” Dr Heggade said.
