Sullia: JDS Leader Tries to Steer Clear of Ramya Shetty Controversy

Sullia, Jan 14: JDS leader, M B Sadashiva, on Wednesday January 13, tried to clear his name from Ramya Shetty controversy, by asking in a press conference as to whether it was his crime to have provided the couple protection without any malevolent intentions. He pointed out that he was the one to have abided by the law and handed over both Mohammed and Ramya Shetty to the policemen.

He made this statement, as discordant notes were heard about his action of shielding Mohammed and Ramya Shetty, about whom court cases and controversies have been in the public domain since the last few weeks.

“A few days back, Mohammed approached me, on the recommendation of a man from Subrahmanya whom I know, for working. He had said that his name was Raju and that he was from Attihalli in Sakleshpur, duly introducing Ramya as his wife. As we were in dire need of workers, I allowed both of them to work in my home and plantation.  Both of them openly roamed about and attended the local festival all the three days, together.  After the festival, they were about to leave for their native place by seeking holiday for a few days on Monday, when I saw their pictures on a newspaper.  I immediately called the policemen and handed them over.

As a responsible citizen, I have done my duty. If I had malicious intentions, I would have hid them in my farm house or advised them to escape. I have solved a problem the policemen had been facing,” he explained.
