Mangalore: Highway Users face Problems at Kottara

Daijworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jan 18: Due to the underground drainage work and the various works connected with the over bridge being undertaken near Kottara Chowki on national highway 17 within the city limits, a long queue of vehicles was seen since Sunday January 17 afternoon till about 8.30 pm at this spot. This was in spite of the fact that the vehicles coming towards the city from Udupi were diverted via Kavoor Cross road at Kuloor since Sunday evening.

Vehicles were also found to have been haphazardly parked by the roadside at Kottara. The policemen attributed the chaos to the huge number of people and vehicles that had come to witness the international kite festival held at Panamboor. Sufficient police personnel were not deployed at the spot, and the problem aggravated because of the aggressive drivers, who tried to move ahead of others.
