Shivamogga, May 20: An old woman suffering from cancer had passed away recently. The locals found out that the lady's daughter spent five days with the decomposed body of her mother.

Rajeshwari (64), a retired teacher, had died in her rented house. She had last consumed medicine on May 13 and it is guessed that she would have died either due to overdose of medicines or some health problems. Her daughter, who is a postgraduate, was at home when the lady died. She did not even convey the news of death to neighbours.

The residents of the extension, who observed that foul smell was emanating from the said house since the last five days, broke open the door and checked. They were shocked to found that Rajeshwari's body is in sitting posture and the daughter was sitting by its side.

The people informed the police. Jayanagar police visited the spot and undertook scrutiny. Rajeshwari's daughter, who has been found to be suffering from depression, has been admitted into the hospital.
