Bangalore: Oscar Advises Muslims to Pursue Engineering Courses

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jan 18: Speaking at a function organized by The Bearys’ Welfare Association in the city on Sunday January 17, Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes, advised the Muslim youths to undergo engineering courses.

The function was organized to distribute rewards to brilliant performers and to felicitate former minister, B A Mohiddin. Oscar felt that the Muslims should increasingly take to job-oriented courses more and more, so that the youngsters of the community become self-reliant.

“It is true that the field of education has been revolutionized. Still, the number of students reaching the high school level is not up to the expectations. Only 10% of the students seek higher education. To obviate this problem, the parents should concentrate on providing quality education to their children,” he felt.

State Governor, H R Bharadhwaj, speaking on the occasion, noted that Islam could spread far and wide very fast, because of the added stress it laid on equality and kindness. “It would not be wrong if we say that the concept of equality found in our constitution came from Quran. All communities have contributed towards building our nation. People from all religions should therefore, co-exist harmoniously,” he advised.  He also exhorted the people not to allow any powers to disturb peace and harmony.

MLA, Roshan Baig, expressed his dissent at the anti-propaganda launched by some quarters against the Muslim students. “It is unfair to treat others with disdain, just because of some people have indulged in terrorism,” he said.

On this occasion, former minister, B A Mohiddin, was felicitated for his life time achievement.

MP D B Chandregouda, MLAs, N A Harris and U T Abdul Khader, former MLA, Ramesh Kumar, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president, Abdul Rahiman, G A Bawa etc., were present.

I do not think that this man deserves the award. He was a congressman, then became a minister when JDS came to power,(just because DK did not have any MLA's) now again he is back in congress. Im sure if there was another party except the BJP this man would have been there now!!!!!

Thanks to Daijoworld to cover the news. As our Governer said Islam stands for equality. We thanks the organisors, for disributing rewards for brliant performers. It is understood that some good performers couldn't attend this function due to financial constrains. At least in future if you are arranging a function like this, please see that poor good performers can also attend this function. Wish you all the sucess in your future programes. I hope under the leadership of Mr. G.A.Bava, Bearys Forum will flerish

BA Mohideen should ask himself what he did to the rights of 50 percent of Beary community that is women. Beary men must change their mindset of confining women to Hijab, the kitchen and giving birth.
