Mangalore: Traffic on Shiradi Ghat Road Banned for Two Days

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jan 19: Vehicular traffic has been banned for three days, from 6 am on Saturday January 23 to 6 am on Monday January 25, from Hassan border to Gundia check post on Shiradi Ghat stretch of national highway 48.

This ban has been enforced to enable the authorities to clear the boulders that had slipped onto the highway from the hillocks in the Ghat region, during the monsoon months. A release from the district administration said that during the period the highway stretch is closed, vehicles may use Puttur-Madikeri-Mysore route or alternatively, Moodigere-Charmady-Beltangady route to proceed to their destinations.
