Kasargod, Jan 19: The policemen have taken into possession, about 3.5 kgs of gold ornaments worth about Rs 25 lac, found in a heap of waste paper stacked in a room of Jai Maruti Enterprises, during their raid on this private financial firm, functioning near Pallikere railway over bridge in Bekal in the district, on Sunday January 17 evening. Deputy superintendent of police, Habib Rahiman, confirmed that the policemen have seized a bag containing the said gold ornaments. The ornaments so recovered are being checked and tallied with the details found in the complaint.

Raghavan, manager of the firm, had complained to the police on Saturday January 16 evening, that gold ornaments worth about Rs 25 lac had been robbed from the firm. He had said that a three-member gang had entered the firm on Saturday, brandishing knives, and had taken away the said gold ornaments along with Rs 50,000 in cash, in the process, injuring him in the hand.

The DySP said that the policemen grew suspicious, as the statements made by the above official contained contradictions. “The police investigations revealed that only 110 sovereigns of gold and Rs 19,500 in cash had gone missing from the firm. The blood stains found in the firm and blood samples of the firm owners have been sent for forensic testing. The policemen hope to unravel the mystery soon,” Rahiman explained. The policemen have also collected finger prints found at the spot and are contemplating the desirability of subjecting the manager of the firm to narco analysis test for bringing out the truth.
